George Clooney Gives 14 Friends $1 Million Each

One time, George Clooney reportedly gathered 14 of his closest friends to his home and gave each a designer suitcase filled with $1 million, presented in $20 bills. He also told the gathering he had paid their taxes for a year. George Clooney, it seems, is a very good friend.

This story was recounted Wednesday by Rande Gerber, Clooney's friend and Casamigos partner (and Cindy Crawford's husband), on MSNBC's Headliners, ET reports.

"There’s a group of guys we call 'The Boys,'" Gerber said. "George had called me and 'The Boys' and said, 'Hey, mark September 27th, 2013, on your calendar. Everyone’s going to come to my house for dinner.'"
"The Boys" included both wealthy men and men who fit more under the "struggling artist" category, as Clooney once did, Gerber said.

He recalled Clooney telling "The Boys," "I came to L.A., I slept on your couch. I'm so fortunate in my life to have all of you and I couldn't be where I am today without all of you. So, it was really important to me that while we’re still all here together, that I give back."

And then the entire frat house bought a keg and partied all night.
Not really. Clooney intended for "The Boys" to use the cash to get their kids into school, pay their mortgages, or just get them through tough times. Gerber said he donated his own share to charity.

It's useful to note that this bestowing of wealth happened before Clooney and his now-wife Amal started dating officially. Had they been more serious, we can only assume she would have suggested he give those spare millions to a more worldly cause. Perhaps a donation made in each of "The Boys'" names? Or at least an investment in bitcoin.

So what have we learned here? I'm not sure. It's good to have friends. But apparently, it's better when they're George Clooney.

After Jude by Dashia. Chapter 9

Jessica my sister could be a real pain in the butt, sometimes, I thought she was meant to have been Fatima's sister. It was my fourth day back home in Abuja and she'd refused going back to school so she'd be with me... She could be sweet too. We'd done all the house chores and since Almighty NEPA wanted us to know they were our superiors, we stayed in darkness. My mum was asleep and my dad had gone to work. So as not to feel extra bored, I played Black Eyed Peas' 'I gotta feeling' and the girl kept jumping and dancing like a monkey. My brother had had enough and begged me to stop the song as Jess wouldn't just dance but sing along with it. "Please... if you love me as much as you claim... Stop this song." He begged. I shook my head with so much emphasis. "No." "Watch and learn baby." She said dancing towards him in a strut. "What does he want to learn in your monkey dance?" I asked her. "At least...

After Jude by Dashia. Chapter 6

I stood in front of the mirror and combed my hair. I'd made time to go to the market and get an all black gown, that was what I was wearing for the burial today. It was five already, I wanted to catch up with Jude's family at home before we went to the church for the burial mass. Fatima was taking her bath. She'd been with me since the day I told her about Jude's death. I was glad she stayed with me, she made everything better. I looked at the person staring back at me in the mirror. I'd changed, I looked different. I put my hand on the mirror to touch my face. There were bags under my eyes, lack of sleep and lots of tears. My nose was red, the sides had begun to have tear marks and the bridge even looked soft. My lips were down turned and unhappy. I was a very beautiful girl, my face was always bright, I seemed to glow at times, but this person that stared back at me was a ghost filled with bitterness and anger and regret. And pain. I wanted to cry but I didn...

Secret To Healthy Living

The Secret To Healthy Living? Respect Your Mind-Body Relationship By Avital Scharf What’s the secret to healthy living? A good start would be by replacing negativity and any harmful elements in your life with positivity and beneficial, healthy options. Sounds easy, right? If it were, everyone would be in perfect mental and physical health. By now, we all recognize the direct connection between mental and physical wellbeing. One impacts the other, for better and for worse. The question is how to achieve — and maintain — balance between our mind and body in today’s fast-paced world, where stress is a top global health concern. Approximately 1 in 75 people may experience panic disorder at some point throughout their lives, according to the National Institute of Mental Health. Mental health is such a top concern around the world today that the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Bank Group (WGB) recently co-hosted an event in Washington, D.C. on the issue. The t...
